Bijrani is the most booked zone in Corbett. The gate is barely a kilometre from Ramnagar, the forest is beautiful old sal, and tiger sightings are genuinely good. For most first-time visitors this is the right zone to start with.
Bijrani is the zone we book most often, and for good reason. The Amdanda entry gate is about a kilometre from Ramnagar town, so you are not spending an hour driving before your safari even starts. That matters a lot on a morning safari that begins before sunrise.
What the forest is like
Bijrani is mostly tall sal forest with sudden open patches of grassland. The contrast is what makes it good for photography — you drive through shade and green light, then break into open ground where a herd of chital is grazing.
Tiger sightings here are good. Not Dhikala-level, but good, and the zone is large enough that you rarely feel crowded even in season.
Who Bijrani suits
- First-time visitors — you get a proper Corbett safari without the complicated Dhikala booking
- Families with children or elderly parents — short drive to the gate, no long transfers
- Short trips — if you only have one or two safaris, Bijrani gives you the most for the time
Booking reality
Because it is popular, Bijrani permits go fast — especially on weekends and holidays. Permits open on a fixed advance window and are gone within hours for peak dates. This is the single biggest reason to tell us your dates early rather than close to travel.
The zone is usually open from around mid-October to end of June and closes during the monsoon.
